The North Florida Gulf Fishing Club February tournament was a giant success.
The greatest participation of any club tournament to date.
Twenty nine boats showed up at Jerrys Bait and Tackle Saturday morning anticipating catches of top slot redfish.
We had numerous new members participate in their first tournament. It will take a little while before everyone becomes acquainted. Soon enough we can all put names to faces.

Larry Cobb our quartermaster had a fine meal of baked beans and roast pork ready for everyone upon their return to the weigh in. I certainly hope no one left hungry.

The conversations were laced with "the one that got away", "seeing lots of reds swimming about","pulling the boat thru the creek","reds too big to keep".
Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the day. Everyone overheard conversations about new places to fish and new baits to try.
Not every contestant had fish to weigh. Please do not get discouraged with that result. After all it is tournament day.Sometimes the fish are more elusive on tournament day. Keep coming, keep trying, keep learning.Making new fishing friends and learning is what NFGFC is all about.
I personally have had my share of no fish on tournament day.

Congratulations to Eric Keyser and Bryce Hill for a 1st place showing.
Congratulations to Butch Taylor for a 2nd place showing.
Congratulations to TinCan and Chalk for a 3rd place showing.
Congratulations to Susie Bush for a 1st place Badcock and More sheepshead.
Congratulations to each of you for coming out and trying.

Our next club meeting is March 6 at Beef O'Brady,Thomasville rd. Tallahassee 7 p.m.
Our next tournament is March 8 at Keaton Beach Marina south of Perry, Florida.

Captain Pat McGriff will speak at the next club meeting. Capt. McGriff is a popular and renowned guide and fisherman from Keaton Beach. He holds no secrets. He will inform everyone at the meeting about locations to fish and the best bait at the time.
If you are interested in Keaton Beach area fishing you should not miss this meeting.

I want to thank all our OLD members for attending last Saturday.
I especially want to thank all our NEW members for attending last Saturday.

I hope to see all of you at our next meeting and our next tournament.
