During the tournament Saturday I spun the prop on my Minn Kota. When I got home I removed the prop and could see where the sheer pin was broken on both sides flush with the shaft. I tried to lightly hammer the pin out with a punch tool to no avail. I then decided to attempt to drill the pin out. 4 drill bits later I finally punched through the other side and; the only problem was the bit came through just under a 1/16th inch off. At this point I decided it would be a good idea to just take the shaft out “ Big Mistake” . Now I have a the entire lower unit of the trolling motor apart…….

My first question is: does anyone have a, or now where I can find a Time Machine?

If the answer is no…where do I buy Minn Kota parts?

The place BH mentioned or Larry's in Moultrie. Either 1 will fix you up and it won't be expensive. If you have to replace the armiture, they run about $90. The rest of the parts in the foot are relatively cheap.

I busted my sheer pin as well Saturday...I'm telling you JT51 was up to something...R&R has them.

Ive been there before...

Oh this will only take an hour..... two days and a few hundred bucks later I wish I had taken it to someone else.

When I opened the nose cone there was a little water in it I would say about 5oz.....is that normal? I am thinking I can take the ARMATURE to a machine shop and have them drill a new sheir pinn hole a quarter turn around the shaft... then I will save $100

5 oz. is not a little water. There shouldn't be any water inside the housing. When I looked at the first picture of the nose piece I knew you had water intrusion. Looks like $150 worth of parts to rebuild a 24 volt motor. That ain't bad.

Butch and I build our own shear pins for the trolling motor out of stainless rod stock.

I generally do all of my repairs but I would take that to someone else ta repair My nephew had a couple of them repaired in Tally, don't know the name, but will try and find out

I thought that the riptides came with a 5 year warranty. If you take it apart isn't the warranty void. I have one myself but it's only 2 years old, what makes the lower unit take on water, is it the front oring on the shaft? I'm just wondering so that down the road when I have problems I will know what to do.

I think if you get line wrapped around the shaft one too many times or bad enough, you can destroy the Oring
