Intermediate Casting Clinic

Post by TallyFly »

We are talking about having an intermediate casting class if there is any interest. This would not be the basic stuff but would center on helping people who are already using their fly rods learn to use them better.

If we can get it, we will hold the class at the McClay School. It will be from 8-9 till mid afternoon with lunch provided. The instructor will be Jim Penrod who is a FFF Certified Master Fly Caster Instructor. We will probably limit the class to 8 motivated, dedicated, individuals who want to take that next step. You may even find that you want to become certified to teach. That would be great too. We are looking at a Sunday, March 23, class.

Would any of you be interested?

Great to hear of your interest. We are still planning for that date but will have to let you know when we get the facility nailed down.

The cost is $70 for the day and that includes a year membership in both the Florida Big Bend Flyfishers and the Federation of Fly Fishers. With the smaller class, you will have plenty of one-on-one time with the Master Instructor.

As we get closer we will be asking what sort of problems you have that you want to address. This will help Jim as he decides what to teach.

Stay tuned!

BTW: FBBF meets tonight.

Whats the cost if I'm already a FFF member? Can you get Jim to bring one of those big wind tunnel fans so he can show me how to cast 60' into a 15mph. headwind? :smt005

Okay, guys. It is official and you are the first to know. The Intermediate class will be held on March 23 from 9 till 4. It will be held at the home of one of our members on the shores of beautiful Lake Jackson (off Lakeshore Dr). There is plenty of grass on which to demonstrate and practice. We have arranged to have only natural conditions with which to contend so if we have wind gusts that day, we will learn how to handle them.

The cost is $70 with a $10 discount for FFF members and a $15 discount for FBBF members. (The cost for a FBBF/FFF member is $45)

Jim Penrod is a really great teacher who is guaranteed to keep you rolling in the grass (roll cast, get it?).

Send us an email from the web site so we can reserve your spot since 8 is the max.

Hope to see you there.
