Left St Marks around 830. Drove over from Econfina due to low tides. Ran out to an area to start trolling and our depth finder went out. :smt010 Well we would have to do this the old fashioned way .
Got to an area we knew the aproximate depth and started trolling about 30 feet. No bites. No reports on the radio and no one catching fish . :smt010

Continued on to about 38 feet depth area and finally got a grouper bite: a 24 inch keeper. Thank goodness we weren't skunked. We continued on then finally Wham a double! Things looking up! :D We looked around and there was some tight grass like bottom grass yellow thick clumped up grass floating and small minnows under it.... then saw about 15 fish blown up on it........ wow they were grouper! I marked the area on the GPS continued through it. Wham another double , then a tripple. We had found the honey hole. :D We continued trolling tight on these numbers and continued with 2 to 3 at a time ending the day with a total of 14 keepers. Lost the big one at the boat approx 34+ inch fish. but still had nice fish. Threw back at least "just short" gags. It was a great day on the water and our friends had a great experience. You know how it feels to travel 3 1/2 hours to fish and strike out??????? :o The colors were stretch 30's HOT PINK, CHARTRUES, AND BLUE AND SILVER. Caught the first fish on mirrow's green tiger stretch.

I have seen fish blow up on stretches before but never so many and so large fish. I was truly great. The best part was sharing this with newbies. We also had a flat tire on our trailer to start the day part of a days fishing. :hammer: Hope your enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. Some day will get a camera to upload. I do have pictures on disposable camera and will have have developed and added. One of the guys that went with us had an beard and looked like Santa Clause. I was going to post Santa took time off from making toys from the North pole and went fishing

Frank Bradfield and I have gotten into them a couple of times like that. Those days rank as some of the best fishing days I've ever had. Everyone needs to experience it at least once.

Oh, so you ran up on the annual "GAY GROUPER GATHERING" :smt005 :smt005

The most memorable day I've ever had grouper fishing was a trout fishing day. Fishing in Shared Basin just south of Horseshoe. Looked up on a flat and there was a couple of hundred grouper tailing on the flat. They would hit anything you threw at them. That was one more fine meat haul day. :-D
