Rotten Transom

A friend gave me a 1973 model Gheenoe Classic. The transom has rotted out and the previous owner has bolted a couple of boards together so you can use a trolling motor on it. The back bench is also spongey. The hull other wise is in very good shape. Is this thing worth trying to fix or should I just junk it?

Sounds like ya need ta give it to me and save yerself a lot of work :-D
You can cut the transom out "inside only" and relace the wood and then reglass it  the bench is best cut from the underside "if you want to save the bench" or about an inch or two from the sides, take the whole bech out and replace it "using the litle thats let to position and hold the new one in place while you work" I'm sure Chalk has a lot better idea of everything involved than I do
