Train up a child in the way he must go....

A couple of years ago Dill Glover, the guy who told me about BBF.net, an excellent fisherman and even better man, gave my son Charlie a little ultra-light spinning outfit. Charlie was 5 at the time and didn't quite have the patience for it yet. I put it up and saved it for another day. That day was today. I got that combo and a Zebco 44 out and asked Charlie if he wanted to learn to cast by himself. He was all for it. I gave him some lessons and then we put targets up in the front yard.

I told him he would get a quarter for every bag he hit.

He actually put one in the bag so I gave him two quarters for that shot. He then said that he thought it should be for nickels. I agreed and he earned a total of .60 cents.

I wanted to continue building his confidence so we hooked the boat up and took little sister out to Lake Iamonia.

This is how he did.

I started my son when he was 5. I hope your new partner is as avid as mine was, and the partnership lasts a lifetime.
