Well this may geta little long winded. You have been warned.
3-1
A buddy and I left Moultrie around 6:30 Sat. morning.
Launch at the public ramp and head in "that" direction. We got a bunch of short trout mostly 14-14 1/2". This was my buddy's first time fishing in salt water so I was really trying to put him on some fish and he was having a decent time on the shorts but I wanted some fish in the cooler.
TRaveling around a little and found some water in an area that looked pretty fishy. I was fishing my old standby bait that looks like its been left dragging on the asphalt and Justin was using another suspending plug. After about three or four casts around the chosen bar and my plug starts feeling really heavy. One 18 1/2" trout comes aboard and in the cooler. My life getting better by the minute. After two casts, Justin brings aboard a 15 3/4" trout. No trophy but it'll make it to the grease. After manuvering around with the trolling motor in 3'-18" of water I land another fatty trout 20" and 4# on the Boca.
Dayum my life is good. We fish around a little while longer catching numerous more shorts. Called it a day around 4:00 so he could get home.
3-2
The bride and I launched around 9:00 this morning and headed the "other" direction for about 10 miles. No Dice water jsut didn't look right, no bait anywhere and nothing really drawing the fish in. We decided to go to the area I fished the day before, 20 miles the other way. A bug coming over the windshield at 40+ mph hurts like the hell. We keep going and finally get there and find a few boats working the area and procede to laod the boat with short fish. My wife gets her first trout of '08 and the first on her Christmas rod.Troll around inside the bars and catch a few shorts and a nice 19" trout on the secret bait. My wife is putting on a clinic with the shorties and decides she wants to use the secret bait no dice. I throw it out again and put a decent 18" in the cooler. She ties on the brother to my bait and in goes a 16" trout. Her life is getting better
. We looked around and prospected for alittle while and called it a day.
All in all two great days ont he water with good folks and a few fish were caught for the grill. Life is getting better and better.
