I may be committing a cardinal sin here due to ignorance but I'm sure some one will straight'n me out it that is the case. I've fished out of St Marks, Aucilla, and Econfina over the past couple of years but mostly for trout. I've been reluctant to head to far in to get up next to the bank for reds but I'd like to try it. Would any of you care to share a gps number (if you have them marked) for a couple of creek mouths? Not being familar with the shore lines, it would take a considerable amount of running up and down (at high tide) to stumble across them. I know that is perhaps the way some of you have identified them and if so I don't have a problem if you wish to keep them private. I know it would be an absolute taboo to ask for grouper numbers and I fully understand why, but I'm not sure if creek mouth locations are considered in the same way. If so, please accept my humble apology. Thanks either way

Well, in my experience, a number to the entrance is not going to help you much. What you really need is a route in and out. If you can put in at St. Marks at high tide you can run east 2 or 3 boat lengths off the shoreline with no problem. Stop in any of the creeks that look good and start pluggin the shoreline. The gps number for the entrance to stoney bayou is on the Area Charts page. That would be a good place to start

I understand what your saying about having the route marked. I guess I was thinking about trying to position myself off the creek mouth but further out off shore and then drifting for trout. At the correct tide, I would then move on in towards the creek and fish for reds. That may not be realistic if there's "stuff" between me and the creek mouth but that was my thinking rather than running directly to the creeks. Thanks again.

Sir Reel, I have every creek name and number and a satellite image to boot from econfina to aucilla and some east.... I used terrafly.com to get all the names and numbers...You have to convert the numbers to work with GPS....I used http://www.jeeep.com thats spelled right three e's....Its alot of work if you have a slow dial up, but its nice to know the name and general location and the images help identify good creeks....All this said I just come off the water, tired and whipped, but two reds are on ice as we speak

And I appreciate the information and sources. Sounds like you had a exhausting day.... but ain't it GREAT!! I'm here in the office trying to get some data crunched and the mainframe is loaded up with jobs submitted for the weekend .... You'll probably not see this until tomorrow so Good luck.

A little more rested now.....As Tom said the route in and out is the key....My lil boat doesn't draft much so we motor with in 30-50 yds of the spot and shut down and use the trolling motor to work along the bank....No number or picture is going to replace time working a lure and taking mental notes.....I use the gps to take me back to the productive spots. I checked out the links you posted. Very nice! I wish they carried it just a little further out. Seems like you could find some nice holes just by studying the map. I'm going to try out a few of them Monday.
