Wow, fishing was tough over the weekend...well at least Saturday....I didn't have any reports for Easter Sunday, as most either decided to do "church" or didn't report their catch? Anyway the North Florida Gulf Fishing Club had 22 boats down from Tallahassee and they only had three(3) boats which weighed in five-fish total weight! That is two anglers on board each boat, 44 anglers ( and some really good ones, let me tell you) and only 3 boats have five keeper trout!

Yikes! Mother Nature put a whammy on the keeper trout as every boat, including me, caught all the shorts they wanted.....but no keepers in most boats or very few.

I had a party of three and we brought in seven keepers with three over 22 inches long with a 24 incher as our largest. However, we caught the 3 larger trout right on top of the high tide,in a twetny minute span, long after the NFGFC had already weighed in.

Ashley Mock of Warrior Inshore Charters also caught some great fish late..right on the high tide:
"I took Mike and Melanie Ballinger on Saturday from Woodstock, Ga. we only managed eight Trout and three Reds with Melanie catching her biggest trout ever, at 25'' weighing 5.1lbs she also caught a nice 26'' red."

Tuesday of last week, I took Gary and William Bates of Albany, Ga. out and we landed fifteen trout, with the top ten weighing 29 pounds and we had three over 21" long. We caught all our fish on jerkbaits(plugs) from 2.5 feet of water.

Here are a few reports from the marina:

Steve, William, Justin and Harry Lyons of Phenix City, Ala. had 6 trout and nine blues Saturday from 3 -5 feet of water on Saturday.

Durl and Patricia Baldree of Lenox, Ga. fished from 1 - 5 ft. and brought in five trout Sat.

Earlier in the week, Scott and Scotty Jones with Howard Gaston of Dawsonville, Ga. fished three days, and landed 28 trout with the largest a 24 inch long sow trout from 3.5 - 5 feet of water using cut pinfish(shiner tails) and New Penny Gulp under Cajun Thunders.

Good Fishing!
