A day with my boys....Panacea/Carrabelle 3-26-08

As usual with this time of the year, I had more boat cleaning to do down at Carrabelle, so I decided to take the boys with me today to spend some time with them. We stopped off at Hookwrecks in Panacea for lunch.....thought they would like to sit outside somewhere and have lunch on the water (dad too
). It was a beautiful day with just a slight breeze. Such weather called for an order of these.........

I even got my older son to try one......he said they actually looked good for a change
. We hung out for an hour or so and of course my 4 year old could not resist getting in the water almost right away

I told him that for getting wet, he had to go talk to the "owner".......

He didn't like that too much.....especially when his older brother made it start talking and moving.....the red eye got 'em the best
He was out of there!!!!!
We stopped off for bait so they could fish while I was working
Got down to the Boat Club and started working while they threw out some shrimp along the slips......

It didn't take long before the little one had his line broke off.....guessing a nice red....notice the disgust

A short while later, dad was done working but the boys were not done fishing.....imagine that
We fished for another 30 minutes or so, and then headed home. They did manage to land one decent trout.....big enough for dinner

We got home around 7:30pm and had another nice dinner off the grill......this time with some trout added in. You can't have just grouper every night you know

It was a beautiful day just to be outside, but even a better one to spend with my boys.
We did talk to a few guys that spent the day out on the water doing some offshore fishing (got to mix a fishing report in here somewhere). Talked to a realtor from Tallahassee and they got a nice 3 man limit of grouper fishing in 60 ft.
Told us that they had at least a 12 ft. tiger shark come up and take a swipe at a grouper they were trying to boat
I might just hold off on doing any diving soon
Another group of guys manged a few keeper grouper in 40 ft. Said they did some trolling. but with little success. Most fish came off the bottom with live bait. Can't wait to get back out there
