rubber netting?

I've been looking at the dip nets with the rubberized net. I'd like to hear any suggestions or input. My impression so far is that because of the nature of the materials the rubberized nets are not as deep and generally aren't as big in diameter. (ie: could be a problem getting a large fish to stay in the net

) They are considerably more expensive than the traditional dipnets with cord netting, but I'm tired of hooks getting fouled in the knots and the general tendancy for increased tangles with the old style. Let me know what your experiences have been and any suggestions for a particular product. Thanks.

SR, A while back I reported a trip where I forgot my net. I bought one of these rubberized nets your speaking of at Wal-Mart. I used it that weekend. When I returned home on Sunday, I threw it in the shed and that's where it remains today. I hated it. Just as you stated, not deep enough. I have a net that I bought at K-Mart a couple years ago. It's black coated mesh, but it don't hang on hooks and teeth as bad as the green mesh ones you buy. I just got my first tear in it this past weekend from a stinking shark. I don't remember what I paid for it, but it was resonable enough.
If you decide to get one, I'll let you have mine, CHEAP.

Sir Reel & CS, You both hit the nail on the head. I bought one

(expensive) at Bass Pro a couple of weeks ago. Used it on one trout trip and it was like trying to use a paddle to dip with. 20"-24"

trout are longer than the opening and a trout that size is not heavy enough to stretch the rubber netting. I ended up netting several fish more than once. I tossed mine in the back of my truck and have gone back to my old black mesh net. Yes mirror lures take up permanent resident in it but, I've never had a nice fish bounce out of it.
