Down to the coast for the first trip of the year. Also, the first trip in the new boat and it performed great. it was probably the worst weekend i have had at econfina, but we still did well, had fantastic weather and got to spend some great time with my dad and our friends on the coast. friday was pretty good for the reds, saturday was just really really tough, and sunday was pretty good for trout. we had perfect weather for the entire weekend with temps in the mid 50's in the mornings and upper 70's in the afternoon. the tides however were the worst that i have ever fished. we usually only head down when there are good tides, but we just couldn't stand it any longer.
friday we got down the usual noonish time. we went straight out for the reds and ended up with 14 reds for the day. we then fished for some trout on the way in and ended up with 7 trout. as it was for the entire weekend, we probably caught 60-70 trout each day, but almost all of them were 14 and 3/4 inches long. the first picture is of the first red of the year, first red in the new boat and first red on a new rod by a friend of mine steve broadwell who makes the best rods ever. our two keepers were great tourney reds being 26.5 inches and 26.75 inches.
sorry for the no shirt, but wanted to show off the first red with the rod.

then we had the rest of these

saturday there was no tide movement at all. got to meet DAWGHOUSE at the ramp. great meeting you and super nice boat. we worked the hardest i have ever worked for 7 trout and 8 redfish. we did have some fun however with two cobia and some bluefish while trout fishing.

Sunday the water did not move til around 1:30, so we never worked for any reds. we did manage 7 more trout with two sows that were 22 inches and 21 inches.
overall a great weekend with my pops enjoying some great weather.
