three half day trips

Got down the PSJ on Sunday to spend the wifes spring break at the beach. About all I could hope for was half day trips. Stiff winds from the East had me debating where to go. Thought I would catch a break and the winds would trend more out of the East South East, so I could fish the backside of Saint George. No such luck..It was a bad scene at the ramp on the island. So Whiskey George it was. Never Fished there before but it was getting late and I figured a scouting trip was about all I could get in and still be back in PSJ before noon. About 1.5 2 hours was all I got. A few blow ups on Top water but none in the boat. Tuesday, left PSJ city park about 8 and ran South. Was pretty foggy and the wind was nil. Going from pothole to pothole with out much luck. A few blow uos on Topwater but again no joy. About 10-10:30 started heading back in and stopped just of Conch Island to fish the long rod some. Worked a grass line back to the North. Had a few shots at some reds but no takers. Just follows. But apparently I am the Lady fish King. Landed prolly 6-8 on a toad.
Called it a day and was back at the ramp by Noon. Wed: Last day to fish. Decide to go West to CIS. Boat hit the water about 7 only to find it fogged in so bad I couldn't see more than a boats length in front of me.
So I could only make a fast idle for the next five miles or so for fear of hitting a bar or the bank. I got on the bow and trolled to an area I wanted to fish. No wind what so ever so I knew I had to be quiet. Sight fishing was out so I resorted to staking out in what was a good location and casting to the fish as they would crash bait on top. First red of the morning was moving down a bank and pushing bait out of the way, he crashed a super spook but came undone at the boat. figured he was 20-21. Second red: Same story. Notice some small minnows or shrimp jumping around in circles and a nice wake following them. Tossed in a Top dog...twitch-twitch-pause....bam. This one made it to the boat. 20.5
Got up on the platform and broke out the pushpole and the spoon. Poled around for 45min. to an hour with a few shots at some reds coming on the flat on the rising tide. Most spooked at the boat before taking the bait.
All in all a fun couple of half days that I wish could have been full days.
