What leader do you use with live Pinfish?

When fishing the flats with live Pinfish what leader do you use. I use 20lb Fluorcarbon line all the way from the CT to the hook. My wife don't want anything but coated wire from the CT to the hook. We fish in extremly clear water most of the time. She gets as many bites as I do, no matter the water clearity. However, I do have a lot of bite offs. I'm interested to hear what some of you Pros use for leader material with live Pinfish. (Flats only)

Do ya'll run the leader from the CT to the hook or just the last foot or so of the leader?

The whole leader. When I do that I'm specifically targeting cobia so I want a long enough leader so that I don't get tail whipped or get raked across the back spines and get cut off.

Thanks for the response. I also run my leader from CT to hook. I think I just need to go to a thicker leader. I like to use Seaguar, but it's almost $12. for 25 yards. Rigging up two or three rods with 3' leaders eats it up pretty fast. Whats the difference between 20# fluorocarbon leader material and the 20# fluorocarbon main line for the reel?

The stiffness. And as you know, its all about the "stiffness".

I had been using Stren 20 lb fluoro fishing line for leaders. It worked OK but it just didn't seem like the knots pulled down right. Never had one fail though. I bought one of those 25 yd. spools of Seaguar and it is much better, IMO. Still, that price is hard to swallow.

Tom, I guess that's the differance between fresh water and salt water fishermen. Fresh water fishermen keep it limp,

salt water fishermen keep it stiffer. (line I mean)
