Went back today after work. More of the same. The river is actually rising pretty quickly it appears. I thought it was dropping when I was out Tuesday beause it was about 10 inches below the water mark on the trees but yesterday it was only about half that. It's hossin but if you get back in the backwaters its pretty still and good fishing. The current has uprooted alot of the grass in the sloughs and moved things around quite a bit so you can actually get into places that had been blocked the past couple of summers. Got there about 6. Caught 20 keeper bream by 8. Caught a couple of nice Jacks too. They seemed to be everywhere. Isn't the record around 6lbs? I'm surprised someone hasn't broken that. I've caught a few the past couple of years in the 4-5 range but that's just tinkering with it. I think the record came out of there, actually. Anyway, was dragging a wiggler over a sandbar where I'd been catching shellcrackers and a nice bass ended my evening. I won't take a guess at his size cuz I didn't even turn him with a #8 hook and 4lb test but he left there like a 747 headed to Atlanta. The gators were still acting the fool, and were about every 50 yards. I'll post some pics I took later.
