Had two little fellers and achaparone on board, a great time was had by all! Got there early to aviod the traffic jam that can occur at Sheilds. Shortly after ariving Greenbone pulled up, good to meet ya Don! Short time later we got our kids and off we went. Our plan was to scoot on over near Aucilla.... Then we hit the big water, dang it was blowin. Settled for a location near the rocks and started our drift at 6 feet. The captain and I were a little worried we wouldn't be able to produce a lot of fish but that fear was soon gone. The first little guy casts out, as soon as the CT/Gulp hit the water, WHAM fish on! The chaparone casts, WHAM fish on! Even the tiny little guy was catchin trout. We made several drifts in and around that area (depth range 3.5 to 6 feet) with a lull in the bite only for a few minutes here and there. Ended up loosing count but we questimated about 25 to 30 trout in the boat with several throwin the hook at the side of the boat. Brought back three nice size keeper trout and one keeper spanish. Trailered the boat and got to the pavillion just as the rain came. Good dawgs and tater salad! Rob and I really enjoyed the experience and are thankful for the ability to share our resourses. Thanks to Don for coordinating the event, everyone enjoyed it. We hope to do it again next year.

Appreciate the interest BB. However, there is no way to know what next year's date will be. We (NFGFC/BIGBEND.NET) do not determine the date. We are dependent on what the Children's home has open on its calendar. That was the primary reason we went with the day and conditions last Saturday. If we had had to cancel, the next available date when this type of activity could have been put together was way late in the year. Getting all the chaparones/house parents/kids/boats/captains/sponsers together on the same page with a date that doesn't conflict with a Club tournament, etc. is a decent challenge.
The only thing I can say is that we have a couple of events that seem to take place about the same time each year (hopefully) and as soon we know about them we try to pass the word along if the event is going to be supported. I should also note that I am not an officer of the Club and my comments here are only my own.
The two events are
1. Take a Kid Fishing
2. Hands Helping Anglers.
