Started the day out this morning in a pissy mood because I wanted to go catch a trout or two and none of my regulars would man up and head out. I posted a post about ten this morning crying the blues and seriously contemplating taking BB out solo. Looked down and had a PM. JT asked if I still wanted to go and my reply was hell yea!! This was @ 10:45 and Jt told me to meet him @ 1:00. I was in Adel. Grabbed my junk, threw it in the truck and cut out like my azz was on fire. Hit the top of the hill outside Pavo and Mr Sheriffs Deputy was sitting side the road with a big grin. After slowing down enough to pull over( about two miles)

, Mr Deputy proceeds to ask me if I knew why he pulled me over. i told him I had a pretty dang good idea. He then proceeded to tell me that it was a Sunday morning and that he liked for folks to be extra careful on Sundays and obey all posted speed limits to be sure and get where they were going in one piece. I then told him if he really believed what he was saying, he'd let me go. With a puzzled look on his face, he asked me "Hows that?" I proceeded to tell him that I had a fellow waiting on me til 1:00 to go fishing and if he wanted me to get there in one piece he should let me go right now and Id have just enough time to slow down and still get there on time. However , I told him, if he didnt let me go and we kept communicating about safety and he had to go through the trouble and time of writing me a ticket, I was gonna have to haul ass to get there in time! He kind of shook his head and laughed and told me to drive safe and have a good day. Thanks Mr Deputy!! Got to Taylorville Rd and said a fast hello to Butch and off we go. Got to the lighthouse and there was a sign at the guard house that said ramp closed. After a few choice words, JT with all his charm got the guard to let us in. 500 trucks at the ramp. We got put in and off we go. First couple of spots not much action. Third stop, we started catching fish. or should I say, Jt started catching fish. After several shorts, JT puts a nice 20+"er in the box. Im still on the shorts. A couple of casts later, JT puts a solid 18"er in the box. I try switching to his bait, Hang a nice spanish. Lost him. I hooked a dang good trout. Lost him. To finish the day I think we had three or four solid keepers. Again, I should say JT had nice keepers. For some reason I couldnt put a keeper in the boat. An aesome day on the water with a superb angler. I had a great time Steve and cant wait to do it again. On the way in , something jumped out of the water in front of us. I turned to JT and holler WHAT THE F@#^&*@*??? I swear it looked like a 200 lb tuna. About four foot long and two or three foot tall. It had a forked tail and rounded front end. I talked to CT and he said maybe a big Jack??Absolutely no idea what it was. Any guesses would be appreciated. Again Steve, a great day!! Nice to know I got one old Salt I can depend on to head out on short notice!!

BB, don't feel bad that you weren't the one catching keepers, I had the same problem on Sunday. I was catching, but it was all shorts. Keith was the one catching the keepers, finally at the end of the day I managed one for the box. Good day to be out on the water! With the traffic jam at the ramps it seemed like everyone was out yesterday! It was even jammed at the Fort, and that ramp is "closed".

All BB needs is a softer touch setting the hook.
When he sets hooks the fish come clear of the water.
No way they can hang on.
He said it was a bottom fishing habit he can't break.
A fun day though in spite of the 15 mph wind.

glad you got out BB; too bad you missed the good part of the day. glassy, light breeze till about 1:15. we limited out on kepers in about 30 minutes but don't know if we even got a keeper after 2pm, so it was tough times when you boys were out there. water looked like yoohoo most places when we called it a day around 4:30. Still, any day you can convince a deputy it's safer to not give you a ticket, I gotta say that's a good day.

thought we passed you on our way out of the Lighthouse road.
BTW, beware of the undercover black Ford F150 writing speeding tickets in the Refuge.

I got into a very large school of jacks over 15-20#'s on Sunday. They wouldnt touch my jerk bait but there were over 20 in the school. The large jacks have arrived.

BB-there was white Jimmy with an aluminum bass boat and chocolate lab inside pulling out as you started backing JT down the ramp. I yelled at Steve, but he kept looking into the distance

. There was a ton of boats around, so I didn't try to catch up with you after we pulled forward.
Glad I wasn't the drunk guy

Left my hearing aid at home.
BB had to repeat everything three times yesterday.
With the hearing aid people only have to repeat twice.
