Matt, Boo and I launched around 6:45 and headed east. Tried an area where I've been catching fish the past couple weeks, but could only find shorts and blues. I did manage two blues on the same cast, but that was not what we had come to catch. Bumped down the coast a couple miles until we found some really nice patchy bottom in 2'. Ended up being a great decision; the best trout day in recent memory ensued. Topwaters were producing big trout, and we caught several over slot fish up to 26". jerk baits produced very heavy slot fish, mostly around 19". I can only imagine what our tournament stringer today would have looked like. Didn't seem to matter what topwaters we threw, so we conducted a litle experiement; Skitterwalks, thunderdogs, chug bugs and top dog jrs all got hits. A little after noon we headed out to some rocks in search of a cobia with some pins we had collected, but nothing doing except a couple spanish. The box at the end of the day had 3 trout (all 19") and 4 macks (15-20"). The trout went well with rice last night and the macks are being converted into smoked fish dip.

Saw JT at the launch and tried to yell at him as Matt was pulling us out of the water, but I don't think he saw me in all the comotion at the ramp.

Great day; wish today wasn't a monday or I'd be at it again.....
