Getting ready to go on vacation on Thursday, so I just had to run the boat before we leave. Grabbed my kids and one of their cousins went fishing. We arrived at the Lighthouse guardhouse and the attendant said it was busy. We followed in two other boats and had five behind us in the rearview mirror.
Headed east toward Peter's Rock area. Tried a few different depths, but didn't get our first trout until we hit 6'. Multiple shorts came boatside. Biggest hit of the day came when L.B. decided it was time to switch baits. He pulled out an ugly green/orange large Gulp. Started slinging and WHAM! Thought it was the trout of the day. Rod was doubled over and line sang for minute. This fish finally comes up to the top and I see it's a Gag. Look at the bottom machine, 4' of water. Pretty little thing was about 12" and lit up.
As the wind picked up, we moved back toward the west side of the Rock Garden. Picked up some more shorts and then headed to the ramp. The kids decided they were ready to go.
Most fish were caught on either DOA Glow jerk bait or Gulp Glow shirmp.
