If I was the Ex Prez I fish every day!

Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush (L) displays a tarpon he caught and released, while fishing with George Wood, off the Florida Keys near Islamorada, Florida, April 19, 2008. Estimated to weigh 135 pounds, the game fish was the largest Bush, 84, has ever caught and even though the boat had a legal harvest tag, a decision was made to release the fish alive and have a reproduction mount commissioned. Great Tarpon, and I hope we can all fish like that at age 84.

It said he released it, why would you keep it? Isn't a tarpon just like a big carp? I have never heard of anyone eating one. Seems like a lot of hassle to keep it when you can get could get a reproduction mount.

Speaking of a Tarpon
just like a big carp? I have never heard of anyone eating one
I've never tried one (Tarpon) but I've eat'n many a Carp!! I would have to believe that if Tarpon are similar to Carp.... there would be a lot fewer being released! Mid west is full of "pay lakes" stocked with Carp. Spent many a pleasant day with my Grandfather fishing with his receipe dough balls for em. Even one taken from dirty water will clean themselves out if put (alive) in fresh clean water for 2 or 3 days before you clean em. Cut in steaks, score the steak with a knife about 1/4 ot 1/2 inch deep and 1/2 inch apart when fried will result in the bundle bones or fork bones (which ever name you prefer) that are mostly in the shoulders to crisp up when put to the grease!!

isn't it illegal in state waters to remove that fish from the water for pictures?
