Fished St Marks yesterday am with a couple of newbies to flats fishing. We could only muster a couple of 15 and 1/32" trout on the falling tide in the am much like the two prior days on the west flats, oyster bars and a creek or three so it being our last day I decided to change locale after getting a phone call from bigdog about his exploits Monday.

Boat loaded trailered and back on the water in record time. Headed out the Ecofina to find more than a little breeze. So we decided to hit the sore thumb hole which commemorates the only surgery I have performed on my boat on the same day we found a little spot back toward the Aucilla back last scallop season. The water fit the right depth as that BD had suggested. We immediately started boating fish. The newest newbie absolutely wore those trout, blues, blue runners and lady fish out. Fished 'til 5:30 but only put another 6 keepers in the box and most of these put us at risk for shrinkage. all were caught on jigs on the bottom.

The water was pushing 73 degrees. I wonder if all of the rain has pushed most of the fish out with all the fresh water. All week we got very few in less than 5 feet unless it was on a bar.

Twas a beautiful albeit breezy day. Saw a bald eagle on the way out and had to wait for a huge gator to clear the ramp to load the boat.

Safe trip back to Macon, already planning the next trip in two weeks.
