7 lb trout

A 29" - 7 lb trout is what Ashley Mock and Junior Dice caught yesterday over here...I thought they were redfishing over here :o :lol:

Great news. I do hope the pic includes measurement.
They are skinny sometimes but 29" should be more than 7lbs.
Also, the best good research I know of that addresses the range/size class of trout
"in" the Gulf includes St Andrews Bay in its assessment.
St Andrews was near the bottom of the list for length.

Lit, a question on the sex of large trout. I have read that a large percentage of Sea Trout in Gulf over 27" are female , any research to back that up in our area?

There's a great article in the Florida Sportsman this month on that very topic. But much of their research was done out of a university in the Carolinas. That does not mean they were not down here though.

I'd guess that a large percentage of Sea Trout in the Big Bend over 20" are female.
It's a guess and I'd have to hunt to back it up. I'll work on it. :thumbup:

Males can grow to lengths of about 20 inches, whereas females can reach 25–30 inches or even longer.
