Got the boat back with the platform...(no wagers an me falling off, cause it probably wont be long!)
Does anyone know where I can find a good boat pole?
If any one has any advice on a pole would it be nice length, diameter, etc the only one I have ever used is an old cypress tree, I think I would like something different for this boat.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the telephone.
I can tell you which one not to get. The one that Bass Pro sells. Telescopic 6 to 9 foot. Aluminum. Only about $50. I bought one. Like dragging around a flag pole. Too big around, too bulky, too short. Thought it might work for a small 13 foot boat I use, thought it might be easy to store when running, but didn't like it from the first time I stuck it in the water. U Use it now to push salesmen off the front porch. Works pretty well for that. Painted Marine Corps green so blood washes off real easy.
It doesn't matter what the boat length is, you want at least a 20' pole. Find your best price on a Stiffy on the internet, then check the cost of the shipping. After you add it up, call Quinn at Parkway marine.
Got a buddy from Tampa w/Hewes Redfisher 18' and Stiffy. He's gotten bummed-out with the push pole -- hardly ever uses it with a 70 lb. thrust Riptide and doesn't like the space it takes up on the right gunnel. He claims the better push poles are way lighter and better than the ~$400 Stiffy he's got and the really light poles are pushing $1,000 new. He'd like to get rid of both pole and polling platform but wants to sell 'em as a package. Wouldn't help you, sorry to say. He's also recently gotten an anchor pin but hasn't used it yet -- yakers use these a lot.
