Any one know what a good asking price would be for a 1997 Mercury 60 HP outboard, motor runs good but the lower unit needs to be rebuilt.

One thing you can do is go to http://www.nadaguides.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and look up your outboard's value. Then call a mechanic to see how much the work on the foot will cost and deduct it. At least this will give you a ballpark figure...

Here's what I got for your motor before deducting for repairs, but I had to guess on the exact model:

PRICING

Low Retail $1,335

Average Retail $1,500

In other words, it will cost as much ta repair the foot as the motor is worth :-D but to be honest, the worth of a boat motor is gauged more by condition and upkeep than by suggested retail price :smt004
