Aucilla 5/10/08

Met FlounderPounder at Jerry's at 5:30 a.m. and made the drive to the Aucilla. We were the third boat to launch in darkness and found that the wind was blowing close to 15 mph. Fishing was tough early as the waves were big enough to make topwater ineffective.
Finally, FP had a blowup on the topwater, but the fish missed so I threw behind and hooked up...after a five minute fight with a good red, the hooks on my twitchbait were straightened and the fish was lost.
The wind died a little and we moved to the East a bit. We fished a rockpile in about 2.5' of water ...topwater plugs and twitchbaits were the ticket.

26.75"

27.5"

This fish was scared of FlounderPounder

We landed 8 reds to 27.5" and a big Jack. Around 11:30, we decided to take it to Savannah's as we were tired of fighting the wind. Even Suber came in to join us. Enjoyed it FP - look forward to more trips in the future!
It was a good day, but the wind made it tough fishing. We fished shallow around structure...water temp stayed between 75-78 all morning.
