st marks ramps

i am heading down next week to fish out of st marks. we will be staying at shell island fish camp.I hear that the ramp at the fort is closed,

could someone point me to a good ramp close by to launch a 28' boat with about a 20'' draft?

Shields is your only option I think. Shell Island maybe can launch you with the forklift. I would call and ask. I wouldn't try a boat that big at the fort even if it was working.

I was by there this weekend- The Fort Ramp was open.
Looks like they are building the new one to the side of the old one.

thanks for all the info. alan at shell island cant get the forks between the boat and trailer we tried last time,so we used the fort ramps. it work fin just have to be carful because of the high sides. looks like shields is going to be my best bet. thanks for all the help.
maybe we will see ya'll on the water. i'll be in a sportcraft/green t top with twin 250 yams
i'll run offshore in the am but will be drifting the flats in the pm come by will have a beer or 12 THANKS AGAIN HEATH

I have used this ramp, but know it only as St. Marks ramp!..............why is it so often called the Fort ramp?..MHI excuse me for hijacking your thread mate!

Like Bobgob said, the San Marcos fort is right next to it. Also the fort ramp helps differentiate between the St Marks Lighthouse ramp, so most people will specify "the fort" or "the lighthouse".
