What its all about

Planned a trip for today so my wife and i could take our four year old son Cutter to ST.Marks on a fishing trip .The whole idea was to put him on any kind of fish we could find to keep his interest up so we stopped by Jerry's and picked up 48 shrimp and headed to the light house.Started off in 5 to 7 ft. water where he caught a mixture of pin fish and short trout.Moved several times just to keep him busy but soon he lost interst in fishing and began eating the largest bag of skittles i have ever seen washed down by a coke .I decided to move in shallow and try and hook some bigger fish and let him boat them so i tied on the spook and moved in.Set up a drift in 3 ft. spotted bottom and started chunking.Minutes later a nice 18 inch trout hooks up and i hand the rod over to Cutter and he wares him down and boats his biggest trout ever.
Holly and i hung several more trout and let Cutter reel them in but soon he grew hungry so we broke out the peanut and jelly and took a break.

Cutter wanted to go and see the light house so i told him i wanted to hit one more spot and try to put him on his first red fish.We ran to our desired spot and Cutter drops the power pole down.I tie on a jig head and 4" gulp and on my second cast i feel the bight ,set the hook and drag starts singing.I one hand the rod and Cutter joins in reeling.
What a fight,he keeps saying i can't turn it and my wrist is burning but finnally we wear him down and Cutter boats his first red,a whoppin 26.5 in 6lb.8oz brute.

After high fives and hugs we call it a day and head in to explore the light house and stop by the refuge shop to check out all the animal exibits and walk the nature trails.What a day.
