My roommate Kyle and I decided to catch the out going tide this morning for a little redfish action. The wind made polling & sight casting too much of chore so I put my new Minnekota 50lb. to the test. We hit up several creeks in the Stoney Bay area with limited visibility and a high tide in the morning but not much activity there with only one 23" red to the boat...
and a trout. We decided to move back out and hit up a smaller creek mouth that looked ideal for holding fish on a low tide. We threw on some Gulp shrimp with an 1/8 oz jig head and went to work. In this one spot we managed to catch 8 fish with 2 DOUBLE HOOKUPS
&
.I was using my new Symetre 2500 I won at the Shimano Tour so I had to get in the pic! These fish were ony fire!
. The biggest fish of the day was from a double hookup I managed to get away with by sight casting to a this big guy that followed Kyle's fish to the boat
&
. After the bite slowed we moved back towards the river and on the way we found some trout busting and Kyle brought home a nice 16" trout. We then proceeded up the river in search of our final fish for the slam..the flounder...But no such luck...and did manage to pry a another red from an oyster bar up East River. Anyway it was a good day on the water with a good friend and managed to land 10 redfish and 3 trout total.
