I fished a new area on Saturday in hopes on jumping a tarpon or two. The reds and trout cooperated early in the day but no tarpon.
Around 12:30 the action picked up with 4-6 tarpon aggresively chasing bait in a cut that spilled into a shallow flat. I threw topwater working it fast and a 70#-80# fish jumped my large plug 10 yards from my boat. It was a hell of a site to see a plug blow up that close. I had him for 15 or so second and it spit the plug. This is the second fish in the last 2 weeks that this has happened. I will be back at it tomorrow, its just a matter of time before hook-ups become catches.
A couple pics of the day.
