The Abomination

My vise forgives me for walking away for it...the long pole wasn't so easy to please this weekend, but I vowed to be a better steward.

This fly was created by Capt. Paul Fisicaro - this is my interpretation of his creation. The fly is something in the middle of the road between a kwan and toad. Its a fairly easy fly to tie, Capt. Paul like tying the fly with bead chain eyes. This is fine, but in my limited experience a fly lower in the water column seems to be in my favor. I have had some refusals with a fish tracking a fly coming up in the water column. In the bottom picture you see that I tied the flies with several different weight eyes (medium & large bead chain & x-small & small lead eyes).

Materials Used
Hook: Mustad 34007 size 2
Thread: Olive Ultra Thread 140
Tail: Crystal Flash (Copper & Root Beer), Enrico's EP Fibers (Olive & Tan)
Body: Aunt Lydia's (Rug Yarn) (Tan & Cream) or Enrico's EP Fibers (Olive & Back Country)
Head: Medium Bead Chain (use heavier to cover the water column)
Weed Guard: 25 pound hard mason mono

Tying:
Wrap hook shank with thread to just past the barb
Now tie in the Enrico's EP Fiber tail, length is twice the hook
Now bar the tail with a brown or green magic marker
Tie in flash twice the length of the hook
Take some Sally Hansen Hard as Nails and coat.
Now figure eight five pieces of yarn or Enrico's EP Fiber alternating colors
Tie in the dumb bell eye and super glue
Cut the yarn or Enrico's EP Fiber diagonally from the hook shank
Add a little Sally Hansen Hard as Nails to the top and bottom of fly to lock in the wraps
Tie in the weed guard
Whip finish and head cement.

Where you find that Sally Hansen cement and why you use bead chain eyes stead of the lead dumbells like you use on clousers ?

Bead Chain eyes are hollow and make the fly buoyant...you can coat them with enough Sally Hansen's to make them float to a degree..Like I said you can use different size bead chain and lead eyes to cover the water column...the flies in the bottom picture use medium and large bead chain eyes and x small and small lead eyes

Sally Hansen can be bought at Wal Mart in the finger nail polish area

I'll get me a bottle or two of the Sally Hansen.. I been using Loon outdoors hard head cement and after the second time you use it, the lid gets cemented on and you crack it opening it ....I got a prince albert can fulla home made clousers and other assorted innovations that I'm going to take to St Marks in the morning if things work out...Taking two fly rods and going to try to catch something on one.. This afternoon I gotta make up some homemade tapered leaders.. Figger the weather conditions are going to be the best I've seen them in the past couple weeks with the exceptions of the tide.. we'll see ~!

So I am totally out of control   :-D

First video - Is of the Abomination with medium bead chain eyes....the fly rides hook down, which is good for a upper water column fly
Image

Second video - Is of the Abomination with small lead eyes...the fly wants to ride hook down and the weight of the eyes has it lay on it's side...I would flip the fly and tie it inside the hook shank and keep the eyes on the back side, this should make the fly track hook up vice down.
