Another great Memorial Weekend spent in a great place. Always one of my favorite fishing trips because I love clear water. This year was even better b/c the fishing was good for the first time in a couple of years. Also good because Mudduckers boat is very fast and very shallow :-D :-D . I polished that skeg for you real well. hehehehhehe

Got down thursday around 1:00 and got everything unloaded, got the rods ready, and headed out. Put in at the state park to try some spots on the south and west side of the bay. started off slow and then found a huge school of reds. wife and pops doubled immediately and then the school left. it was big enough i thought they would stick around for awhile and play, but they went out to deep water apparantly cause we looked everywhere and never found them again. it was a shame too because we were the only boat in the area. went to the back of the bay and found a few trout, but it was very slow. i believe the lack of tide was the issue b/c there was hardly no wind and perfect conditions.

Friday was just one of those days that you put forth all of the effort it takes to saltwater fish. we found some good bait and fished with it all day. fished only three spots throughout the day that i have been fishing for several years now and they paid off big. all three are areas where deep water comes up to the grass. we ended up with lots of flounder, 11 nice trout, spanish, and blues. there really is no telling how many fish we caught. it was steady action all day. the fishing was really good from 4:30 til around 7 b/c the tide was really moving. first time i have got to fish that kind of water movement in the bay. also the first time i have ever seen the bay slicked over like glass.

Saturday was hot to say the least. we fished around apalachicola bay b/c i knew st joe would be very crowded. there was pretty much no tide at all and the fishing showed this. we found a few reds and a flounder early, but we made 1000 casts for the few we caught. we headed to apalach in the boat and had a great lunch at papa joes. came back out and that is when the wind started. we were able to fish a few more spots and picked up some really nice trout before calling it a day with the wind. got on a little indian pass raw bar action late :lick: :lick: which completed the seafood eating trough over the course of a day. :-D

Sunday we were back in st joe bay. got a very late start b/c of the big east wind. it slacked late and made for a beautiful evening on the bay. we caught a few trout, several flounder, blues and one monster spanish. definitely the highlight of the day. wife was fishing topwater when we heard a tremendous smash on her bait. it scared us all to death. got it up and it was a spanish that i thought at first was a king it was so big. it must be close to 30 inches (i have to get a tape measure and meausre but it is 6 inches longer than my 48 quart cooler). this is it next to a 22 and 3/4 inch trout.

Another great trip to st joe. we ate some great seafood as always including the new place in st joe on reid ave called half shells. just a little lunch type place, but man they have some good fried shrimp. the wind howled saturday afternoon and sunday, but ended up to not be such an issue. the great thing about the bay and the way it sits is there is always somewhere to fish no mater how bad the weather. hope you guys enjoy!

I enjoyed your report. Sounds like you did very well. I'm sure the wind was an issue the way it blowed. Nice pictures, thanks for letting us share in your weekend!
