SGI - Memorial Day

Got a chance to wade the bayside for a few hours before heading home on Monday. Conditions were near perfect. Light winds, clear skies, slightly stained water, and a fairly low tide. The only condition not perfect was the lack of fish. There were probably more mullet swimming around than I've ever seen in one area, but reds and trout were scarce. I saw no trout, one red that I am sure of and a couple others I'm not so sure of - might have been big mullet. I caught the one red that I could verify, a 10" flounder, and a 6" squirrel fish. Here's a couple pics of the only kid that came out to play:

Came upon this lady guarding her house.

She was pretty upset with me walking right under her nest, and actually took flight and started semi-diving at me. She never got close enough to actually buzz me, but trust me, she didn't have to for me to get the message. It's pretty unnerving to have a bird of this size swooping over you. I learned a new respect for ospreys.

All in all a slow trip, but it was really nice just being out there with the peace and quiet (well except for the one guy on the jet ski that actually did a half a dozen doughnuts on the flat I was fishing, and then proceeded to get off it and drag a net for mullet about 50 or so yards in front of me). The fish came on a Dupree spoon fly. Hopefully next time I'll have more fish to post.

Great report. The ones around All Tides Cove get pretty ticked off when they are on nest.
