I will be heading back down to SGI next week. While not in the bay, I'd like to do a little surf fishing. I the past, we have caught some pompano and ladyfish by fishing from the sandbar with shrimp. Been told that a whiting filet is a good bait for some of the bull reds patrolling the surf. I plan to fish teh esat end of the island.

If anyone has any recommnedations, they would be greatly appreciated.

I'd eat the whiting and find another bait.

Sand fleas or gulp sand fleas for the Pomps. Shrimp on a Pomp jig is ok , too. Definitely put any whiting you catch in the cooler, that'd be like catfishing with a T-Bone!!!

Yea. whiting is good eating. Will look into the sand fleas.

BB, like I told you before if you are such a big fan of whiting call me and I will give you some numbers in Suannee where you will get tired of catching them, it is a blast. Call me..
