Well I have been a member of bbf for over a year now but have never had a day worth posting, that is until yesterday. Headed out of Carrabelle with my dad, our friend Mike, and five not so locals from Orlando and Atlanta early yesterday A.M. for what was promised to be a productive day of Groups and Snaps. Seas were to be 1' to 2' with awesome visibility, but someone failed to mention the 5' to 7' rollers that chop would be on top of. Rough ride in a 17' MAKO. After bout an hour and a half ride to 20 mi. out we hit our fishing grounds and the seas seemed to lay right down. Bite started almost immediately around 10 a.m. and lasted til around 11 or so. Sardines, squid, and some livies we managed on sabiki before heading out of the pass. Didn't matter, get it to the bottom, it was fish on. Didn't get it to the bottom, it was fish on! Slower sinks were getting the AJ's and some Kings, so a heavier weight was key to the promise land. First round landed about 10 blacks (4 keepers) and 3 nice red snapper. Turned off as quick as it turned on, so after a few sandwiches we pulled anchor and chuged around a bit for some other numbers. Didn't take all that long. Around 2 or so bite was on again fast and furious and was still going when we called it quits around 330. Second spot was RED grouper heaven, and our one apiece (eight total) limit was reached within 10 minutes. Must have thrown back at least a dozen and a half keepers, many that would have been really nice to call (those in the ice werent to shabby) but oh well, what are you going to do. Boxed three more really nice blacks/gags and a few more red snaps to go along. Only landed one King at 38" since we weren't using any steel leader the rest were cut off. A nice grey snap managed his way in the box also, and all in all, one hell of a day!

Estimated total count (2 boats, 8 anglers):
AJ's : 2 dozen
Kings: 6 with 1 boated
Red Snapper: 8
Grey Snapper: 1
Black/Gag Grouper:7 boxed to 32"
Red Grouper:8 boxed, 18 realeased

Thanks fella's for one hell of a day, I'll add a pic or two if someone can tell me how the heck to attach 'em!
