Showboat and I decided to make a day of it Saturday. Slid the new Tin Can in at the fort about daylight and headed to points east in search of Reds. Not much happening early. Hit several spots known to hold reds with no luck. It was close to 11:00 A.M. when we happened to drift into a creek mouth and I picked up a pup red. We decided to further investigate the creek. Much to our surprise, that's where we found the fish. We caught a few small fish, and several slot fish. Showboat landed the biggest fish of the day at about 26".

After chasing reds all morning we decided to go look for some trout. We hit several good spots, fished as hard as either of us have ever fished for trout, and managed 2 keepers. There were a few shorts mixed in, along with a few sharks, ladyfish, and one catfish. At 5:30 P.M. we finally said uncle, put the boat back on the trailer and headed for home.
We fished every depth from 6' to 18". We attempted to throw every bait we could think of. But the floating grass was bad, and limited our bait selection. Showboat caught both of the keepers on a soft jerk bait.
Total for the day was 10 reds, several short trout and 2 keepers.
Showboat, I thoroughly enjoyed having you on board the Tin Can. Can't wait to do it again.
