St. Marks Slam - Fun Day

The fishing has been really good this year. Yesterday was my 2nd grand slam (cobia, redfish, trout) in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, no pics this week since I forgot the camera at home. I fished 11 hours and caught the following:
-3 cobia (lost 5 and spotted ~20 throughout the day, had 1 bite a fly and spit it out immediately, that would have been my first cobia on fly)
-6 redfish from 20-27"
-1 trout (on flyrod)
-1 12" ladyfish on flyrod (a 25" cobia chased the ladyfish that I was reeling in for 3 minutes and hit it about 5 times before giving up on it)
-2 Rockbass (1 big one and 1 small one on flyrod)
All of that was fun but the best story was the one that got away. I was trout/red fishing in shallow (water 3-4' deep) walking the dog with a Super Spook Jr. lure when a ~80lb tarpon came out of the water with the strike from beneath. He made a run and then jumped clear out of the water twice and threw the lure on the 2nd jump. I couldn't believe he was in so shallow. It was awesome! That would have been my first tarpon over 50lbs and only the 2nd one I have had ever on the line (temporarily) in the Big Bend in 8 years of fishing here. I usually have to go on roadtrips down south to target tarpon.
Overall, it was another great day of Big Bend fishing.
