Team BB Tourney Day Summary... We Suck!!

Met Ct and Skeeter 22 at the cabin @ 4:30 am headed to the coast. Put in and on the water after seeing One keeper and crew at the ramp. Begged em to let us follow them around all day but money couldnt bribe em!!!
Headed to spot number one. Three or four casts, 18-19" red. Then a few casts later Skeeter puts a red in the boat. We fish on and SKeeter puts a small keeper in the livewell. 628 casts later, CT puts one in the box. I tell them lets go win the Badcock & More money back and head to Cobia spot number one. First cast Skeeter hangs and lands a 30" bomber. We fish on and see a couple more Cobes but no takers. We move out to the coral bed area and catch a couple of keepers. Around 1:00pm we ease on out to check on the cobes again and see three 50+# brutes. Throw every thing in the boat at them along with a couple of live pinfish but these bombers are in rest mode. No takers. Finish the day with 5 keeper dink trout and one fat rock bass. Whats the deal with the rock bass this year?? We caught rock bass from 2' to 10'. The trout were really scattered or not eating. No idea. I left Ecky yesterday totally stumped and wondering why I try and fish these tourneys. I got to the cabin and mowed yards yesterday evening. I had to talk myself out of heading back down to the coast today to see if I could figure out what Im doing wrong. One serious question. How in the world can I go prefish different places in preparation of the tourney and absolutely stack the big trout and then tourney day bomb every time??? For a competetive person like me, it really sux!!! Yes Im whinin.
. Cant seem to get the tourney monkey off my back. Anyway, was a greeat time with CT and Skeeter. Glad we got to enjoy a slow day together and look forward to next time. Congrats to Jt , Butch, and Jr. Great catch. Also Congrats to the other tourney contestants that did well. Congrats to Sea Spot on another huge trout from his boat. Man Keith, youve got the Pig trout figured out! A special congrats to Bowd and crew for running the miles and getting it together for a super strong finish. Them boys gonna keep at it and be a serious force to be dealt with!!! Great time at the weigh in and thanks to the sponsors and cooks for the awesome sausage dogs!!
Oh yea, forgot to mention, I didnt catch a keeper all day but my one highlight was on top water. I had a huge trout blow up my skitterwalk and fought him for all of ten seconds. How in the hell can something spit a plug with six hooks in it?? The trout was an easy 25"+. One of the biggest trout Ive ever seen actually come up and blow up a plug. Was very cool to see and the good part is he's still out there!!
Cant wait til I get the Maverick tricked so I can go find some new waters to tourney fish. All my normal places I fish that are deeper than 2" had an honest 5-10 boats stacked on them. I want to find some areas where the fish arent so pressured and I can actually target big trout without having five boats cutting my fishing plane off!! We were actually working a line of bars that I never see any one on yesterday and we look up and there were four boats that had manuvered themselves in line to follow my exact line. Probably just coincidence but it sure is aggravating. If you should happen to catch a big fish, how in the world can you go back and fish that area again when there are several other boats chompin at the bit or cutting you off to get in on top of you?? Doesnt really bother me most days but on tourney day it is frustrating with the time constraints!
