How thick is the population of tiger sharks from the Indian Pass area throughout Apalachicola Bay? In the past five years, have you seen one? They seem to be dwelling in the deeper areas of the bay according to some tagging efforts. Anyone encountered one/few?

Never seen one or even heard of one being caught in that area. I know the hammerheads used to be thick on the eastward end of St. Georgia's Island where the cut's current is so strong.

I've personally seen 3 or 4 in the past 5 years, and I know a few folks who have also seen them. All the ones I've seen have been huge 10 foot +.

I know they see them regularly from Panama City over to Destin.

Thats exciting to hear, what a wonderfully diverse area. Tom and Ron, of those tigers you did witness, what were/are the circumstances surrounding the sightings? Were these fish finning in the shallows, chasing catches (like the tarpon in the pass), or other?

Last summer I had a 10' plus come right up to the boat.
We were fishing off Piney Island near the long bar - it goes from 12 /15 up to 1' and we were in about 4'
I watched it pushing water coming toward us. It swam right up to the side of the boat, flared its jaws and then swam off.
Felt like I was in a movie- I really thought it was going to bite the boat!
There was no doubt this was a tiger- see one and you know it for sure.
