Haven't seen any post lately so here's one for ya'll
Left T'ville @ 5AM we stopped at home town BP in Carrabelle to pick up pinfish. NOTE: If you have never stopped in at the BP you don't know what your missing. Mr. Crum is one of the most polite and helpfull person you will ever meet.
It was hard to get up a crew in the middle of the week so the wife and a friend launched the boat at timber inland and ran south out of the east pass. Sea's were <2ft. The first spot was in 95ft. First drop started catching lane snapper we picked up a few here and there. I then seen something about 30ft from the boat looking at some old squid that was floating and i thought well it's not a shark or he would have sucked down the squid. Maybe a ling or king so i get the big spinner rod rigged for live bait put on a lively pin and let it fly, Man it took all of 30 seconds for the king to find it!! It was on then! had my drag smoken so the wife was pourring bottle water on it (is this why they callem smokers!) and yelling don't loose it ( she's thinking smoked mackerel dip) and i'm thinking i hope somebody's getting the gaff. Well after several long hard runs i get it in the boat. 44" 25- 30LBS king!!! man i didn't stop sweating for a hour. Biggest king for me and my boat. Started back bottom fishing and caught few more lane snapper and some short red grouper we moved to 100ft and marked a good spot on the bottom. Everboby made a drop with squid, LY's and live pin and it didn't take long had the first red snapper of the season on the boat caught on squid. We fished this area for 3-4 hours and caught fish all day, here's the count. Sorry no pic's to post all i got is this old 35mm and the film is at CVS.
6 - red snapper 2-6 lbs
3 - red grouper 21" - 26"
15 - lane snapper 1-2 lbs
6 - beeliner snapper 3 - 8 LBS!!
1 - king fish 25 - 30 lbs
5 - 6 throw back keeper grouper
10 -15 undersize grouper
2 - undersize red snapper

On the way back in with sea's <1ft we stopped at a few spots for some gag but nobody was home. i then had the crew pack it up and headed for the hill. This had to be one of my best days on the water not often can i make that 35 mile run.
