Ditched the kayak and decided to take Old Silver out today to see if she was sea worthy before scallop season. I talked my wife in to fishing with me, reluctantly, but I think she had an alright time. I hadn't caught squat in shallow water the past month, so we made it out a few miles East of Piney Island for some trout/cobia.
I caught a few dinks and some snots early. I had a few keeper trout, but I was hoping that KC would be able to catch a few so she could understand the obsession.
Well, she's not the longest caster, but she started off with a bang. She landed this 26 inch fat mama jigging the bottom in about 10 feet of water. My only help was netting her. Here she is doing her best to hold up the trout and her sunglassess at the same time.

I ended up with a few shorter trout and a damn good spanish, measured it at 28 inches and he put up a hell of a fight.
Oh, and then around noon, the bottom dropped out and we hauled ass to the landing. It didn't look good and I hope everybody, Tin Can included, made it back in one piece.
