Opening Day Scallop Report - St. Marks

After my scallop scouting trip nearly ended in disaster yesterday, we headed out from st. marks today in search of scallops. We didn't have to search hard. Scallops seemed to be thick everywhere we dropped. We started swimming at 0730 and we were limited out at 0930. Scallops were shucked at the Bird Rack by 1300, and we were on the way in. There was a significant amount of traffic today. Friday and Saturday are going to be VERY busy, especially with the Fort ramp out of commission.

Scallopers should have no issue, so long as they watch the weather and the traffic.

BTW, we tried new scallop recipes. The best was scallops wanton. Just sear scallops in an extremely hot pan for no more than 2 minutes with one stir. Add the scallops to freshly fried wantons and home-made teriyaki glaze. Very nice!
