I launched at the Lighthouse at daybreak. Caught about 2 dozen pinfisn, and headed to a rock pile. Anchored up and threw out a chum block. It didn't take long. The first fish was a 20" gag. A little later an undersized cobia rolled on my pinfish, and killed it. Missed that one. About 8:45, another 20" gag. Then the bite shut off. I stayed on the rocks till 11:00. with no more action. I pulled up anchor and and headed to where Pa and I caught our trout 2 weeks ago to fish the last hour of the rising tide. Long story made short, I fished all my good spots and did not catch a trout today. In fact, I didn't see anyone catch a trout. The water is extremely darl. And there is more floating grass than I have ever seen.

Yes it is, Cran. The real beauty is that retirement allows me the choice to go back and try again tomorrow.

I left a little later in the am and had some luck, it seemed that the grass
was not as bad as a week ago. we found some relief alittle west of the
rock garden. Missed several good fish on jigs on the bottom.
Only brought on 18 inch trout home, we will be eating him tonight with
my new future son-in-law. Caught him with a pinfish under CT.
The water was heavy stained but clear in about 5 feet. couple of inch
waves all day, pretty day.
Caught couple sharks, ramora and catfish for a good tug.
seemed like august fishing to me.

Sorry I missed you, that hand held radio may not be enough, your not the
first person to tell me that.

WE also caught 1/2 a dozen short trout, almost everything on sparkling light green grubs and FB, slow on the bottom.

Even was able to sneak a yozuri through the grass and caught a couple
good bites.

Sorry for the lack in my memory  Still, I would have rather been were you was today than were I was

Rx,
Could you tell me where the rock garden is? I keep reading references to that area and although I have fished St. Marks a good bit, I still don't know where you are talking about. Is it east or west of the lighthouse?
And thanks for the report. It sounds kinda slow out there now. I hate all that floating grass, too. We're looking forward to fall fishing.

Jessie Mc,

I wish I could tell you, but people more important than me will have me
hurt.

Just kidding.

I'm in the middle of and engagement party and will send the directions
later.

Good fishing.
