I'll be down to Shellpoint the 19th. I have a question some have allready answered. If you could only take one bait out with you inshore fishing what would it be?

Topwater bait. Skitterwalk, Top Dog, or Super Spook. It will catch Reds, Trout, Gafftops, Ladyfish, Tarpon, and Cobia.

White-Gulp-Shrimp.......I used over 5 1/2 packs last time I went......caught the limit (2 of us) of trout and many, many bottom fish. Go out to deep water too...10--11--12 feet deep.... if the weather lets you. We just cancelled for tomorrow because of the weather. It's really dangerous to go out that far if there is a possibilty of bad weather....and there is for July 8th.

Answer: Buy a bigger boat so you can carry 2 or 3 baits

Brimbuster and slivers of Chicken Gizzards on a tiny long shanked hook. Take the Pin Fish, Grunts, and Pig Fish and apply the live bait rig of your choice 1/2 the time they will catch fish when nothing else will. If they are too big use them for cut bait. At times I will go to the trouble to shape them like a jig body (cut the bait from front to back into thirds throw away the middle, the top & bottom willl look like a grub shape but real) and fish them on a jig head, or filet and float them with no weight or bobber throw ahead of the boat and let them drift around and repeat.
Many days the all around artificial go to on my boat will be the jig with or with out the cork. I have them in many styles, sizes, shapes, and colors. If I was allowed only one it would be a 4" White Gulp the larger ones don't get torn up as bad by the bait fish like the smaller ones. Because of the weight it throws farther and everything eats them. If I could have two the other would be Chartruse. Last couple of outings the baits with the green out did the other colors.
What John said carries some weight fish your strengths & fish them well. But I have a buddy that his is the Jig with out the cork and many days that will do well but in the Winter when hard baits do good he has gotten crushed while others in the same boat have had their personal best days.
