Showed up at a listing appointment two days ago and walked away with this...

Washed it off and threw it in the pool!

Haven't been able to stop thinking about trying it and I could not wait for a real full blown trip. I decided to drive up to Jackson and see if I could catch a bass.
My friend John has a Kayak also and met me with his young son Walker.

We headed out from Crowder landing toward fords arm

After getting used to paddling around and casting from a seated position i caught my first Bass from the yak...

Not a big one but fun!

The Sunset was fantastic...

As we were paddling back I caught another one - a little better!

Great evening on the water and a fun time learning about fishing from the kayak.
Learned I need to carry water, and less tackle- simplify.
Also see the need for the stake out pole or anchor... man the wind will move you around fast.

Hey bman! I'm right there with you buddy..... Congrats on the yak and a good first trip out! Nice fish! I've learned a ton from the first few trips I've made.... Two words...... "Drift Sock".... It will help you slow way down and ease through the spots you want to fish without blowing by fish..... Takes the wind pretty much out of play..... I am however an acces junkie and did get a Captian Dick's Stakeout Pole and rigged up an anchor trolley for it. That was another good investment.

Welcome to the club, assuming that fishing more often, learning a lot more about how to catch fish, saving money, getting a little excersize, and, oh yeah, catching more fish, is what you want you wanted then yeah, welcome to the club!
Pungo. That's what I chose first because it's as good as a sit in gets. Tracking,stability, simple, light. I do prefer my sit on now (have I thanked Suber lately? Thank's Jeff ) but the Pungo will serve you well. If you want to talk rigging I'll chime in. I would not put a trolley on a Pungo. I love it on my 16ft Tarpon but you can actually clip a caribeener on the side of the Pungo cockpit to accomplish 90% the same thing. Simple.
I'd change out your paddle holders to a flush web clip version (also Simple). The ones on there get in the way.

Q- How do you clip the carabiner to the side?
Also what does a "flush web clip version" look like? I agree the one that are on it get in the way.

The clip just goes on the fore/aft /port/star of the edge of the cockpit. MY friend was doing it yesterday. It's just enough to hold you but I'd have the anchor line tied off elsewhere just in case it slips. I actually have cleats just behind me on my left and another on my front right.
I'll look up some pics of the paddle holder.
