Still pretty green at flats fishing, was wondering where is the best place to fish for redfish in the channel or south of the lighthouse? Also, what is the best angle to go for these? Top water? Any help is appriciated!

If your boat will get you to the skinny water, try the shore lines around grass beds. Creeks hold Reds as well. Bait of choice would be Jerk shads and Spoons. Most soft plastics will do the trick if worked properly.

As long as you can get into a foot of water without too much trouble I would go towards skinny water.
Lots of Redfish will move with the bait. At the change of the tides check out creek mouths. Once high tide
is in full affect check out the backs of creeks. Same goes for Low Tide, check the mouth of the creek
for all the baitfish trying to get the hell out of dodge. The fish know about tide changes and will
wait there to pick up an easy meal. Try a Gold Captain Mikes / Gold Nemire for your spoons, also try
a Heddon Bone Color Super Spoon / TopDog Jr for your topwater.

I have never thought about a spinnerbait? Do they work well?

They make salt water spinnerbaits that work well, I have seen them caught on anything you could fish for bass with. Small crankbaits around the bars live and cut bait shrimp and flies for you flyrod types.

I never could catch them till a guy told me they are stupid and will eat anything now I catch them most trips. Most guys say spoon, spoon, spoon that has been the lure I have had the least success with so far but I throw it the least because I don't have confidense in it.

Dropped the boat in at daylight yesterday. Once to the spot we tried topwater, no luck except for a catfish. Tide was incoming, so we headed up the creek. Caught several Reds in the deeper pockets and the stagnant looking pools of water that no one would think hold fish, but they did. One of the Reds was 7 1/2 lbs. Ventured all the way to the back of the creek until we couldn't go any further and rode the tide back out. ( Thanks to the gentlemen that saw us back there and moved to another creek, you are truly considerate). Caught several large Trout in the deep holes, the largest being 28". Got back to the mouth of the creek, the water was receding very fast so we let it pull us back out to the flats. I tied on an inline spinner with a trailer, cast it out and as soon as it hit the water it looked like a bomb fell on it. Yep another large Red. It was getting a little warm, so we packed it up and headin in. Good day on the water. Tip of the day - If the water looks nasty, you need to test it, you never know what you may encounter.

Can you still find Reds in the super-shallow depths, now that the water is hot, hot hot?

I've caught reds in August in knee deep water so murky you couldn't see your feet.

A couple weeks ago I was over east of the lighthouse. After picking up a limit of scallops we moved closer inshore. Slick calm. You could see the reds tailing in less than 2' of water. They were scattered, but aggressive.

Big trout think more like reds than trout.

To all you tournament fisherman out there, especially the tall lanky one.( you know who you are ). At least I am out there trying to catch the fish and not sitting at home doing dishes. I think I will place a 20' bicycle flag in the mouth of the creek where the BIG REDS are, since I do not like fishing alone. But please tell that guy in the Hells Bay to move on down to the next hole.
