Tippet Size...Leader length

Second guessing myself again...for reds in clear water, what size tippet and what length leader you guys using?

9-10' mono leader with flouro leader to match conditions and the fly, a heavy flouro leader will pull the fly and the front section of the leader under and can destroy the action of a fly. less is more IMO

9ft 12lb leader with a couple feet of 20lb fluoro shock. This set up works for me in most all conditions. In the winter, I may use a 14 or 15ft system if the fish are real skinny and cruising.

9ft leader - 12lb tippet most of the time - my furled leaders are 8 ft with a 4-6 ft 12 lb tippet

Hey Chalk, You liking them twisty leaders? I remember you making up some a while back, just never heard the results.

I like them on my 9wt alot, that leader will turn a boat over on a cast

That's with 2lb line. I need to talk to some of the old fly guys up north and see what they use for the trout leaders. The 2 lb line seems a little to much for the 7 wt. I will throw one in my truck and you can try it out.
