I have been skeptical but it really works.

I tried that once. Never got the smell out, but I didn't use Mr. Clean, I used vinegar and dish washing detergent. I just keep on shucking them by hand now.

Driving back through the canal toward the public boat ramp at KB, it seemed like every house along the canal was using the shop vac. I wondered if it would have a tendency to pull the scallop out as well.

You loose a few but that is the cost of doing business.... It is really about twice as fast.
We did it assembly line style- Three of us opening shells, one using the shop vac and one getting the meat out.
The best part is you can put unskilled shuckers in charge of the Vac and taking the meat out.
