Got a buddy visiting from S. FLA that wants to know about any launch points for a Yak above Goose pasture and what the fishing is like. Also, if there is any place to stay around the spring creek area. Doesn't require fancy.

You can launch at Wilaunee(sp) or at the head of the river on the Wacissa. The fishing on spinners and flys both have been pretty slow, but is starting to pick up.

That is funny- If the rain holds off I'm going today.
Here are the basics & Launch sites:
http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/guide/re ... acissa.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Google Earth has a lot of photos and waypoints for some of the springs.
There is a bait shop in Wacissa-- Borlands- 850-997-04056
And I'd call Wilderness way should have a ton of info!
I'll post if I go...

The other ramp is not on the DEP map but it is just North of Goose a couple miles or so. Nice part of the river between the two ramps though and a little bit shorter ride than from the head.

JT, I'm afraid you are lost. Spring Creek is a good 20 miles by the way the cross flys from Goose Pasture.
Its about a 4 hour paddle from the head waters to Goose Pasture. It would be shame to cut any of that river out. Its one of my favorite rivers in this area. I've taken a many a Boy Scout on his first paddle on that river. Its nice to be able to fish them out quickly when they turn over in clear waters.

The Wilaunnee landing is a few miles up from Goose Pasture and is my favorite place to put in. It's down the last dirt road on the right before you get to Goose Pasture - finding it is a little sketchy though. Theres a couple forks in the road, and I can't tell you from memory how to get there. I will say that when you find the side road with gravel on it, you take that road to the landing. Just up river from that launch is a nice shallow stretch of river with lots of sandy bottom that's pretty good for sightfishing.
