Put in at around 8:30, headed out to see if we could troll up a grouper.....tried bottom fishing also. The water 20 miles out was like coffee.....Only caught one gag trolling, 20 inches...short by 2.....
Headed back in to try for some trout near Rock Island. Had one nice one (est 22") 2 feet from the net and lost her. Then the wife put a 17" keeper in the boat. Also caught a couple of nice rock bass.
Water was not real good for fishing. Offshore. it was 85 degrees and you could not see your hand 12" down. There were grass lines everywhere from 5 miles to 20 miles out.
Inshore was 87 degrees, and the water was a dark caramel color, almost like suwannee river water......
Got enough to have a nice fresh fish dinner tonight.
The old leaning bird rack a couple of miles due south of the river is now underwater at high tide....Be careful out near it. I marked it and will get the numbers off of my GPS today. It is semi floating, so it could break loose any time.....The river was surprisingly clean of any new debris, however most of the new markers that were at the mouth are either out of place, or gone.
Felt good to get back on the water. I had not been since the end of May. The wife had surgery, then the scallopers took over the ramps...LOL Oh, and it is still hot out there.....but october is coming
Had a trailer tire blowout about 4 miles south of Tville on the way back in. Goodyear don't make em like they used to....
. Tread separated and BOOM! 15 minute delay, but that is the way it goes....
