Left out early to look for blue water and weed lines. After 40 miles we'd only crossed a couple of lines and the water was still tinted green. We trolled a bit and picked up one king and a peanut.
The plan had been to make it to the 50 fathom line, but the clouds began building to the south, so we drifted a new spot in 150 ft. Boxed 7 red grouper to 28" and 3 red snapper in a couple of hours.

Snapper came off frozen cigar minnows. The bigger grouper we got on an 8 oz jig.
As usual, the fish bite best before a storm. Despite keeping a close eye on the clouds, we got caught. Lightning, horizontal rain, 30-40 kt wind, 6ft+ seas, catagory I life vests....... the whole 9 yards. We punched through a hole and rode it out, made it back in older, wiser, and wetter than when we left.
Not a bad day for a busted trolling trip. Next time we'll take our bottom rods.
